With Christmas fast approaching, here are some key dates changes to benefit payments
If you are entitled to benefits and your payment date is on a weekend or bank holiday, you will normally receive payment on the working day before it is due. Please note, this may be different for Child Benefit.
- If your Universal Credit payment is due on 24, 25, or 26 December, then you will be paid on 24 December.
- If other benefits (excluding Universal Credit) are due on 24, 25, 26 December, you will receive them on 23 December.
- If your Universal Credit or other benefits are due on 1 January, you will receive them on 31 December.
- Payments due on or after 2 January 2025 will be paid as usual.
As the festive season approaches, we recommend you make a note of these dates to help you budget accordingly. For more information, view the government website for details.
If you are due to be paid on one of the dates above and you don’t automatically receive an early payment when you expected one:
- Double check your payment date
- Check with your bank
- Contact the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) directly, or HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) if you’ve not been paid your tax credits
- If your payment is incorrect for any reason, you can contact the DWP or HMRC.
