Applications are now open for the Roger Walker Education Award
The Award is now in its fifth year will provide £500 to help a young person to continue in further education. You can apply if you currently live in one of our common bond areas of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Herefordshire, Wyre Forest, Malvern Hills, Worcester, Stafford, Newcastle Under Lyme, South Staffordshire, or Stoke-on-Trent.
The award was first launched in 2021 as part of Just Credit Union’s 20th anniversary celebration. It is in memory of Roger Walker who was a founder member, long time Chair and Board member for just Credit Union. He was instrumental in setting up Just Credit Union and remained involved until he passed away in 2020. Education of young people in the region was close to Roger’s heart so this grant is particularly important.
Applications for the £500 Award will close 3 September. The Award can be used for a variety of purposes including; transport costs, fees or equipment necessary for the course. The purpose of the award is deliberately broad and a panel will consider where the grant can have most impact in helping someone to continue their education who might other wise struggle to do so.
