Announcing the winner of the 2023 Roger Walker Education Award

We are delighted to announce that Katie Roberts been awarded this year’s grant which will help her take up her place on a nursing degree at Wolverhampton University. The annual grant is made in memory of Roger Walker a long time supporter and volunteer director of Just Credit Union who had a keen interest in the education of young people in the county.

Katie was nominated by her mother Tracey Gifford who said today: “We want to say a big thank you to Just Credit Union. Times have, and still are, very hard for us, which means that getting the news my daughter had been selected for the award – and knowing Just Credit Union believe in her – means so much. She has made me so proud and I know she will make a fantastic adult nurse. It has always been her dream to be a nurse so it is thank you to Just Credit Union for helping it come true.”

Katie said: “I will be forever grateful. This award will relieve a lot of financial stress and assist me on my journey to becoming an adult nurse. This has been my dream since I was a little girl, allowing me to help vulnerable people in need and save lives. This is the best gift I could ever imagine.”

Just Credit Union wish Katie and all the others who applied this year well in their education and careers. Applications for 2024 will open next June and details will be provided on Just Credit Union’s website.
