Action needed – Child Benefit payment reference numbers are changing.
Just Credit Union uses the HMRC payment reference number to allocate a payment to the correct member’s account. From 22nd February 2021 HMRC are changing the format of the reference that they use. The new reference will be a combination of the claimants surname and date of birth.
If your child benefit is paid into your credit union account please act now to ensure we have the correct details for your child benefit.
What you need to do
Just Credit Union need to know the first name, surname and date of birth of the person claiming the child benefit. This might be different to the record we have if the claim is in somebody else’s name or if you have changed names since claiming child benefit or opening your account.
To prevent delays to your child benefit payments – we need you to help us to make sure the information we have is fully up to date.
You should:
- Email the first name, surname and date of birth of the person claiming child benefit along with the account holders name address and membership number to info@justcreditunion.org.  If you are unable to email you can call 01743 252325 during office hours
- Once payments have been matched to your account, there is no need to do anything else and you should only contact HMRC if your circumstances or personal details change
